Race DaySunday 25th May 2008 - 9amEntry FieldWe are expecting nearly 9,000 entrants
to take part in the 2008 Edinburgh Marathon and the Team Relay.
Weather conditions
May/June are probably the best months to run a marathon in Edinburgh. The wind is
soft and the average maximum temperature on Race Day is around 17 degrees. (2005
provided soft rain and an average temperature of 13 degrees - June 2006 marathon
was uncommonly hot with temperatures reaching 24°C, May 2007 was about 14 degrees
and it should be between 15 and 17 degrees in 2008).
ChampionChip Timings for all
runners (excluding 4 person team relay where only the last leg runner will be chipped)
will be recorded using the ChampionChip system.
Hairy Haggis Team Relay The 26.2miles will be split between 4 runners. The 'Hairy
Haggis' Team Relay was introduced to give athletes of all abilities the opportunity
to run along the same course of the marathon without having to run the 26.2 miles
individually. Teams of four will run splitting the marathon distance between them.
The longest leg will be approximately 8 miles and the shortest leg will be approximately
5 miles.
There are two ways to enter the Hairy Haggis Team Relay
1.
